An orangutan mother and her baby cling to a branch suspended between two worlds. In this painting, I have turned their world upside down—the sky of infinity lies beneath them while the earth and forest exist above. The reversal is intentional: for an endangered species, the natural order itself has been turned upside down. Their survival seems to depend on nothing more than the branch beneath them—a powerful symbol of being “hanging by a thread.”
